DESCRIPTION:The McAllen Chamber\, H-E-B\, L&F Distributors\, the City of McAllen\, Boggus Ford\, BlueWave Express Car Wash\, Radisson Hotel\, Rio Grande Regional Hospital\, McAllen Crime Stoppers\, Composite Access Products\, and TexasWide Insurance proudly announce the 10th annual “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off on Saturday\, June 11\, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at McAllen Municipal Park located at 1921 Bicentennial Blvd. in McAllen. \n“New this year\, the BBQ Cook-off will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday\, June 11\,” said McAllen Chamber Vice President of Special Projects Gerry Garcia. “We are trying out the new time because of the weather\, and we want attendees to come out and enjoy a fun family event while they sample from all the cooking teams who will be competing for a $500 cash Grand Prize award\, First\, Second\, and Third place awards\, plus a People’s Choice award for the best tasting prepared meats all provided by H-E-B.” \nH-E-B is proud to partner again with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce as the Presenting Sponsor of the “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off.  H-E-B provides all the meats to the teams for competition. At the event\, you can expect to try the best cuts for grilling that H-E-B has to offer like the Fajita Especial\, tumbled for tenderness and seasoned to perfection.  At your H-E-B grocery stores\, you can find the perfect cut for summer grilling\, from marinated fajitas to premium cuts like the Prime 1 and Wagyu Steaks. \nThe cook-off will feature 30 local BBQ Cook-off teams competing to see who grills the best Brisket\, Chicken Wings\, Pulled Pork\, Pork Ribs\, Charro Beans\, and Pan de Campo.  Attendees can sample all the meats plus enjoy a beverage garden and live musical performances by Leonado\, Lauren Corzine\, and La Razon.  The cook-off will also feature a Shine & Show classic car and truck show.  The cost for attending the “Sizzling in the Tropics” BBQ Cook-off is $20 per person and children 10 and under accompanied by an adult eat free.  You don’t want to miss this cook-off event! \nSponsors also include RGV Lot Accessories & More\, Tehuacan Water\, Valley Draft\, Tortillas Aries\, PFG Foodservice\, and Braveheart Black Angus Beef.  For tickets or more information\, please contact Gerry Garcia at 682-2871.
