Job Description
Position:
CVB Sales Manager, Visit McAllen
Reports to:
VP and Director, Visit McAllen
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
- College degree preferred
- Two years of experience in hospitality, customer-facing, account management, or event sales
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications
- Knowledge of principles and practices of sales including negotiation, influencing ability, and sales training
- Knowledge of customer service principles
- Knowledge of basic business principles
- Experience in making presentations
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets by overcoming objections
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels is an acceptable substitute for the specified education and experience requirements mentioned in the Minimum Qualifications above.

Functions and Duties:
- Sell with integrity
- Develop a deep understanding of Texas Associations and groups business models, trends, and business opportunities
- Sell destination by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects and by planning and conducting direct marketing activities
- Generate quality leads
- Source and develop client referrals
- Prepare sales action plans and strategies
- Make sales calls to new and existing clients
- Respond to client inquiries
- Develop sales proposals
- Produce individualized bid proposals; follow-up with clients to discuss options
- Negotiate with clients
- Continue through the bid process; books sales after the receipt of bid proposals
- Prepare and present sales contracts
- Represent CVB at trade shows, conventions, sales blitzes, and state-sponsored events as required
- Develop and maintain a customer database
- Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance
- Maintain sales activity records
- Schedule, plan, and conduct site visits of McAllen hotels, meeting facilities, off-site venues, and attractions
- Monitor competitors, market conditions, and product development
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
- Work some evening and weekend hours when required to provide support at various President/Director or President/CEO events
Salary: $40,000-$45,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications
