What motivated you to start this business?
A passion for fresh produce and dedicated customer service. At Sweet Seasons we are “always fresh, always available”, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy and delicious produce. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or simply looking to add some variety to your weekly meals, we strive to provide everything you need, right here in the US.
What is the history of your business?
Life and circumstances brought the founders to McAllen, where they began their business in 2008. Starting with a small warehouse at the produce market, the company expanded to the level of being able to build their very own warehouse in 2023. McAllen’s strategic location near the US- Mexico border has contributed to the success of Sweet Seasons. The city’s proximity to major highways and transportation hubs has made it an ideal location for produce distribution. As the founders’ business continues to grow, they have plans to expand their reach and offer new products and services to their customers. They are dedicated to staying ahead of industry trends and meeting the evolving needs of their clients.
What product/special services do you offer?
We have over 100 different products, covering a wide variety of options. From exotic and tropical fruits, to peppers, Mexican and Asian specialties.
What makes your business product/service standout from the rest?
We provide customers with everything they need in one place, so they don’t have to search elsewhere. In the highly competitive world of produce companies, it’s important to find a way to stand out. While some companies may focus solely on one type of product, our company takes a different approach. We pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of high-quality produce that caters to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. This allows us to appeal to a broader customer base and provide a one-stop-shop for all their produce needs. We are able to create a unique and valuable experience for those who choose to do business with us.
As a small business owner, what does business means to you?
As a small business owner, business means a lot more than a means of making money. Running a business means taking on a lot of responsibility for the well-being of employees, customers, and the community. Owning a business requires creativity in finding new products, services, or marketing strategies to stand out in a crowded market. The produce industry helps build rewarding relationships with our growers, distributors, buyers and consumers.
Are you involved in any initiatives that give back to the community? If so, please elaborate.
Giving back to the community is something that comes naturally to us. Donating unsold produce not only helps to reduce food waste but also helps to fight hunger in our communities. Instead of throwing out, we donate the produce that is still good. We provide fresh and nutritious food to those who may not have access to it otherwise. We give to food banks, charities, schools and churches that work to alleviate hunger.
