What motivated you to start this business?
Born in a family of doctors, I experienced firsthand what it was like for them to always be working. Seeing my father and siblings spend countless hours working at home made me realize what physicians have to struggle with and how it affects their families.
This motivated me to help families just like my own and individuals in the medical field. Today my desire to help others has definitely grown to not only help individuals and families here in the U.S. but also in India.
What is the history of your business?
Virtual Physician Scribes started here in the valley in 2017 with just one scribe and one client. Through the support of our local community soon that first client turned into 10 local clients. Today thanks to them and their recommendations we have attained more than 150+ clients across 26 states, with virtual scribes all across India.
What product/special services do you offer?
At Virtual Physician Scribes we offer peace of mind for medical practices through scribing services. Our services include Virtual Scribing and Transcription.
Virtual Scribing: We believe a good relationship between a scribe and a physician is important for an efficient workflow. At VP Scribes we like to assign a designated scribe to healthcare providers. These scribes are permanent and follow physicians’ schedules so they can work when they are needed to. During a patient-doctor visit, our virtual scribes join the visit virtually. Through the utilization of our HIPAA-compliant communication software, they can listen to everything happening during the visit. As physicians take care of their patients, our scribes take care of the EMR documentation so doctors can sign off on their notes and don’t have to spend extra time charting.
Transcription+: We understand live virtual scribing services may not be for everybody. Every doctor may have their own preferences when working. Transcription+ is a recording documentation system that keeps in mind a physician’s workflow.
After the patient-doctor visit is completed, doctors can record their dictations on their cell phones. Once the recordings are done, they can sign off on the notes. With our file-sharing method, they can send their information directly to our scribes so they may complete the documentation process. These charts are completed and closed within a 12-hour turnaround time and allow doctors to avoid charting.
What makes your business product/service standout from the rest?
Through the unique perception attained from my childhood experiences, I aspired to start a medical scribe company that could help doctors with some of their daily struggles. During my senior year, I decided to embark on opening the company with the idea of hiring doctors in India as scribes to help doctors here in the U.S.
At Virtual Physician Scribes, we focus on our staff and our clients’ needs. We believe in sincerely caring for the well-being of all our stakeholders. By doing so we work towards our vision of transforming the healthcare industry by improving patient outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities. Whether it be through our various employee benefits such as reimbursements or employee trips, we know that our employees are motivated to help and support healthcare professionals and their patients the best that they can.
Virtual Physician Scribes was created to reduce physician burnout and the strains of a busy practice through virtual scribing services that handle EMR charting. Because of their education in medicine and familiarity with various EMRs, our scribes can provide local doctors with medical expertise and a thorough understanding of patient-physician interactions. We stand by current healthcare industry standards and our priority is confidentiality. All our services are HIPAA-compliant, and we ensure patient information remains secure.
As a small business owner, what does business mean to you?
Through business, we can instill a positive change in the lives of our communities.
Business is having growing relationships with clients that are long-lasting. Building partnerships that are mutually beneficial for each other and being able to offer career growth within our local communities and abroad.
Are you involved in any initiatives that give back to the community? If so, please elaborate.
The very essence of our business model is to help individuals, families, and communities through our services. We want to be able to improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients while enhancing business processes in the healthcare industry. By outsourcing our scribes from India we are doing more than just helping our local communities with career growth and opportunities. We are making a global change in the lives of those who need it the most. We are aware physician burnout is steadily increasing within the modern healthcare industry, but we are here to help physicians and their administrations by alleviating some of their stress. Within the next year, we are really hoping to give back to our local communities by helping volunteers in the medical field. If they are taking the time to go out there to treat the most needed, we can only hope to help them with their documentation so they can remain focused on their patients and not on clerical work.
