What motivated you to start this business?
I wanted to bring a more unique experience to the RGV, one that people would enjoy doing by themselves such as celebrating a special date or hosting a private party.
What is the history of your business?
I spent time in Seattle doing luxury real estate when I came across a bar that was strictly for making hand poured candles. Being a dedicated candle lover myself, I was obsessed with the idea of making candles EXACTLY the way I wanted them to smell with the benefits of using natural, organic products.
When I moved back to the RGV, I continued the process of learning how to make my own hand poured candles, sourcing out the best types of wax and oils that were pet and allergy friendly. This was important to me because my father is very particular about candle scents, and I also have an indoor dog who is sensitive to smells.
I began sharing my candles with friends, but little did I know that I would make a career out of it. At Viva Kandle Bar, customers can choose over 100 different scents and more than 15 vessels to make their own candle. Customers can also bring their own beverages and snacks while making a candle. Viva Kandle Bar can be rented for Private Pouring Parties.
What product/special services do you offer?
I sell pre-made candles that have unique scents. Customers can walk-in during our working hours to make a signature scented candle while enjoying a beverage. You can have fun and get creative by mixing different scents. I like to refer to my clients as scent-ologists.
What makes your business product/service standout from the rest?
Viva Kandle Bar is the RGV’s first bar where you can create a signature scented candle, customized according to your preference. Here you can release the stress of the day, bring your girlies out for a night of fun, host a birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party, etc. It’s a very therapeutic and relaxing experience that can easily be turned into a grand party for anyone wanting to celebrate any special occasion.
As a small business owner, what does business means to you?
This being my first small business venture, it means everything to me that I’ve created a place for people to discover new hobbies, make memories and host events while getting to know the community. I love that I have brought a unique experience to my hometown and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for VKB.
