The McAllen Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Workforce Solutions and Texas Workforce Commission have announced the largest career expo in South Texas.
Jumpstart Career Expo will host over 200 employers ready to hire on-the-spot on Feb. 22 at the McAllen Convention Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Employers include Halliburton, BrandSafway, UTRGV, Texas A&M, T-Mobile, Health and Human Services and more. Chamber officials stated over 8,500 job opportunities will be open to job seekers in industries such as health care, government, construction, hospitality, retail, administrative support and more.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees can expect resume building assistance, free professional headshots, health checkups, COVID vaccines, haircuts, and more to help them find their next career opportunity.
“Jumpstart Career Expo 2023 will also provide free resources to make the hiring process easier and enticing for residents of the Rio Grande Valley,” McAllen Chamber & President Josh Mejia said. “We cannot thank the business community enough for its unifying effort to deliver such a unique and accessible project for future employees.”
City of McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos and partner officials were present at the press conference unveiling details of the initiative Tuesday morning.
