We want to give a big shoutout to all our amazing tourism partners who work tirelessly to make the city of McAllen a destination of choice for visitors near and far!
Every year, the U.S. Travel Association hosts ‘National Travel and Tourism Week’ to promote travel and tourism in communities all across the nation. This year marks the 40th anniversary with its theme being “Travel Forward.”
The tourism department celebrated NTTW May 7-13. Activities included “Destination Celebration” an event open to the community that brought over 250 people to La Plaza Mall. Those in attendance enjoyed music, food, drinks, games and swag bags.
A social media “Scavenger Hunt’ also took place on “Visit McAllen” platforms. Two clues were dropped each day for one lucky winner to solve. Prizes incldued gift cards to Kendra Scott and Mori Japanese Grill. A University Drafthouse brunch certificate for four people, ticket vouchers for a show at the McAllen Performing Arts Center and a wine basket from McAllen Heritage Center.
The celebration ended with an “Industry Appreciation” gathering at Quinta Mazatlán to thank partners in the hotel, entertainment, shopping, transportation, and outdoors sectors for their work on showcasing the best that our city has to offer.
