The McAllen Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Texas Crime Stoppers has selected McAllen as its host city for its 34th Annual Conference.
The October 2023 conference is expected to draw over 500 visitors to the McAllen Convention Center that could generate an economic impact of over $288,750.
The conference is organized through a collaboration involving the Office of the Governor, Texas Crime Stoppers, the Texas Crime Stoppers Council and the local Crime Stoppers entity, McAllen Crime Stoppers. This event is dedicated to delivering top-tier training, fostering recognition, and facilitating networking opportunities for Texas Crime Stopper Organizations, all while maintaining an affordable cost structure.
Since its inception in 1981, Crime Stoppers has been vital in aiding law enforcement against crime. In 2022, the combined efforts of crime stoppers programs, law enforcement, and dedicated volunteers yielded over 34,000 tips. These led to resolving 3,352 cases, arresting 1,368 suspects, and rewarding tipsters with $465,000. Texas Crime Stoppers has grown from eight to nearly 150 certified organizations, operating across Texas communities and campuses.
Throughout the year, the McAllen Chamber’s Tourism Department ‘Convention & Visitors Bureau’ diligently facilitates conferences that attract participants from various industries. These conferences play a significant role in generating substantial revenue for our city.
“We look forward to hosting the organization and are eager to continue welcoming them back for future meetings and conferences,” said Convention Sales Manager Martiza Muñoz.
