The McAllen Chamber of Commerce is set to host a luncheon for newly elected Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 29, 2023, at the McAllen Performing Arts Center.
Chamber membership, community and stakeholders are invited to attend the luncheon and learn about Congresswoman De La Cruz’s vision and plans for our community’s future. The legislative luncheon is sponsored by the City of McAllen, McAllen Economic Development Corporation, IBC Bank, McAllen International Airport and Lone Star National Bank.
De La Cruz represents the Texas 15th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is the first Republican and Latina to represent the district since its creation in 1903. De La Cruz’s areas of focus include border security, immigration, economy, and health care access for South Texas. Other issues: agriculture, energy, job creation, national security and veterans.
“We look forward to hosting the Congresswoman and hearing what she has to say about our congressional district,” Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs Gerry Garcia said. “Our area is going through difficult issues, particularly immigration, and we are eager to learn what the Congresswoman’s plans and goals are for not only the district but for McAllen.”

About Congresswoman De La Cruz
De La Cruz was raised by a single mother in Brownsville, Texas where she grew up with a commitment to public service. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at San Antonio. After graduation, De La Cruz enrolled at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México to study Spanish. With over 20 years of experience, De La Cruz led several successful small businesses including an insurance agency. She lives in Edinburg, Texas with her two children.
