What motivated you to start this business?
I have been a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for the past 5 years. I had the opportunity to start my career at Mission Regional Medical Center. Most recently, I worked as a mobile sonographer traveling to all of the nursing homes in the RGV providing ultrasound services/ It was an honor and a privilege to be a frontline healthcare worker during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Summer of 2020, I wanted to do something different with my skills. My sonographer friend Nancy Culp is the owner of Reveal Ultrasound in Webster, Texas. She’s been my mentor for the past 5 years and she expressed what a wonderful, joyful experience owning this type of business has been for her. From that point on I couldn’t stop thinking about how to put this plan into action for myself.
What is the history of your business?
I developed a goal to open for business by May 1, 2023. For the past few months, I have been working on getting the details sorted out, obtaining top-of-line equipment and quality products for my clients.
What product/special services do you offer?
I offer the highest quality elective ultrasound services. I provide the traditional black and white images along with the more advanced 3D/4D/ HD kind. I send my clients home with printed and digital images.
I also have keepsake items moms can take home. Those includes stuffed animals that contain a recorder of the baby’s heartbeat and engraved heartbeat jewelry. We have fire extinguishers and powder cannons for an exciting gender reveal moment.
What makes your business product/service standout from the rest?
I am a registered sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. This is the Gold Standard in credentialing for sonographers. I believe my services are very special because every single session is 30 minutes of quality time for parents to be.
As a small business owner, what does business mean to you?
Being a business owner means that I am responsible for every aspect of my business. Maintaining my office as a beautiful and serene space as well as maintaining my equipment. Most importantly, being a business owner means that I am 100% responsible for the satisfaction of my clients. I am always looking for new and innovative ways to help them have a better and more meaningful experience.
Are you involved in any initiatives that give back to the community? If so, please elaborate.
As a new Chamber member, I am so happy with what the McAllen Chamber of Commerce has done for me and for what they do for our community. The exposure I receive as a member along with the ability to participate in outreach events is of great benefit. This has inspired me to take the steps I need to become a Chamber Ambassador and I hope to increase my involvement in the future.
In the past, I have volunteered at the McAllen Heritage Center and the PalmFest Folklife Festival (Fiesta de Palmas).
